Mass Transit
Our company has developed ITMXs Local Switching system to support Mass Transit transactions in the Intra-day process and deferred Authorization for contactless debit card payments, in order to facilitate the joint ticketing project of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP). This promotes the use of debit cards as a replacement for public transportation and metro fare cards.
Intra-day Process Flow
- Debit card holder tapping card on the contactless payment card reader at the ticket gates at the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations of the Public Transportation Operator (PTO) using contactless debit card of the participating bank of ITMX’s Local Switching – Mass Transit.
- PTO checks the data received from the chip card as follows.
- Is the data in the chip correct?
- Is the card on the Deny List?
- Has the card expired? - After the verification of PTO, the next action will be determined as follows:
3.1 If the verification has been approved, the first-trip of the day will be allowed (the gate open). After the customer passed through the gate of MRT, the PTO's Back Office system will send an Account Verification Request (AVR) to ITMX’s Local Switching system for online checking the card's status with the card issuer. The result of the AVR checking will lead to these actions:
- If AVR approved, the PTO will allow to use this card for the next trip.
- If AVR rejected, the PTO will add the card into the Deny List to prevent it from being used for the next trip.
3.2 If the verification hasn’t been approved, the first-trip of the day will be not allowed (the gate not open). - At the end of the day, PTO and the acquirer will collect all debit card transactions used at the MRT in aggregated payment amount for each card and send approval request to ITMX's Local Switching System for the deferred authorization with the Issuer.
4.1 If the deferred authorization approved, customer account will be debited.
4.2 If the deferred authorization rejected, the PTO will add card data to the Deny List to prevent it from being used for the next trip due to the rejection and the Debt Recovery process will be applied.
